Porous Lava Rock Chips – 1kg Bio-Media & Substrate Base

Build the ultimate foundation for a thriving, long-term ecosystem. Hobby Enclave Porous Lava Rock Chips are the hidden secret behind professional, low-maintenance nature aquariums.

Mined from natural volcanic deposits, these crushed chips serve two critical purposes in your tank. First, when used as a base layer beneath your Aqua Soil, their rigid structure prevents substrate compaction, ensuring essential oxygen reaches your plant roots and eliminating toxic anaerobic “dead zones.” Second, the extreme micro-porosity of the volcanic rock makes it a world-class biological filter media. Millions of beneficial nitrifying bacteria colonize within the deep crevices of each chip, aggressively breaking down ammonia and nitrites to keep your water flawlessly clear and your livestock safe. Packaged in our signature moisture-sealed pouch, these chips are ready to power your tank’s biology.
